MODESTO, CA.  - Former UNC Asheville pitcher Alan DeRatt picked up his first win as a Modesto Nut Tuesday night. DeRatt pitched three scoreless innings in relief and was credited with the victory on Modesto's 5-3 victory over High Desert at John Thurman Field.

DeRatt, who was the 2008 Big South Pitcher of the Year while pitching for the Bulldogs, had started the 2010 season in Extended Spring Training before pitching for the Asheville Tourists starting in May. He was promoted to Modesto, the Colorado Rockies High A Franchise in mid-June.

The Cary native pitched the sixth, seventh and eighth innings and allowed just one hit and no runs in those three innings. He struck out four and walked one. DeRatt is now 1-0 with Modesto with a 3.60 ERA in seven appearances.
