NASHVILLE, TENN. - Belmont scored all three of its goals in the second half en route to a 3-0 win over visiting UNC Asheville Friday night at Bruin Field.
The Bulldogs (1-4-0) battled throughout the match but simply could not put the ball into the back of the net. Nathan Neal fired three shots for Asheville in the match.
The first half was scoreless and both teams took turns controlling play. Each team finished with three shots each.
In the second half, Derrick Henry scored in the 58th minute to give Belmont the lead for good. Henry added a second goal 14 minutes later to push the lead to 2-0.
The Bruins scored late in the match to make the final score, 3-0.
Asheville goalkeeper Phillip Horner made four saves in the match, two in each half.
UNC Asheville plays next at Lipscomb Sunday afternoon starting at 1 p.m. EST.
