JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - McKenna Stockhausen scored the first two goals of her career to help lead UNC Asheville to a 2-1 victory over East Tennessee State Wednesday night.
Stockhausen's first career goal came off an assist from Lauren Turnburke in the 43rd minute to give Asheville (6-6-2) a 1-0 lead.
East Tennessee State (5-9-3) answered just 53 seconds later in the 44th minute as Emily Fulcher tied the game with an unassisted goal. Fulcher's goal moved her into second place on the ETSU career goals list with 23.
Stockhousen knocked in the game-winner in the 82nd minute as she stole the ball from the ETSU defense and beat Emily Bilyeu unassisted on the counter attack.
Veronica Lazar saved the Bulldogs as she made a career best 13 saves. ETSU outshot Asheville 18-15 in the match, putting 14 of its 18 shots on goal. Bilyeu made five saves for the home team.
The Bulldogs will play their final Big South match of the season as they travel to Charleston Southern on Saturday for an 11 a.m. match. ETSU goes on the road for its final match on the regular season when they play at Virginia Tech on Friday at 7 p.m.
