SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Andrew Klerekoper scored the game's only goal late in the first half as UNC Asheville downed homestanding Wofford, 1-0 Wednesday night at Snyder Field.
The Bulldogs (1-4-1) made that goal stand up as they posted their first victory of the season.
UNC Asheville goalkeeper Michael Pereira collected three saves in playing the full 90 minutes in goal. He earned his first shutout of the season Wofford fell to 3-3-2 on the season.
The Bulldogs outshot Wofford, 10-6 but the Terriers had nine corner kicks to four for Asheville.
The winning goal came at the 44:16 mark of the first half as freshman Chance Lord sent a pass to Klerekoper who scored his first goal of the season.
Asheville plays at Charlotte Saturday night starting at 7 p.m.
